Curious neighbor cat

Anyone that knows me in person or even perhaps follows me on twitter can realize that I have a bit of an animal addiction which is nurtured by endless youtube videos and cute overload photos of animal-adorableness.  When I moved to Spain in August of 2010 I was left with no option but to find a new home for my little Zoey.  I couldn’t have asked for a better home for her to go to and thanks to her new owners’ blog posts about the continuation of her unique and quirky antics I know that Zoey is doing just fine.  With the absence of Zoey and the new responsibilities of living in Spain (a new country, a new language, few friends or connections) I felt that animals were really missing from my life.  They were everywhere in Spain but I didn’t feel quite normal going to the park and asking everyone if I could pet their dog.

A Rainy Welcome

After arriving in Belgium quite late on Monday night there were many ups and downs.  The first down came around the time we stepped foot outside of the Charleroi airport only to find that it was too late for the buses to run to Ghent that night.  Upon that realization an alternate plan was developed and we headed for the hotel.  Thanks to one well-educated Belgian’s ability to speak French we accomplished this with little difficulty.  We were shuttled around Charleroi with other harried travelers also seeking a comfortable bed to sleep in for the night.

¡Adiós España! – Hallo, België!

One of life’s many challenges must be packing suitcases in preparation for a flight and the difficulty of this is only compounded when flying with a budget airline that implements strict baggage allowances – and fitting nearly a year’s worth of possessions within your allowed baggage.  Tomorrow is moving day.  I’m writing this from my quaint little apartment in Pamplona, Spain.  It seems weird to think that this is the last time that I will be falling asleep here.
