A Belgian-American Thanksgiving

My first Belgian Thanksgiving turned out to be a lot more American than I had planned. I arrived home from my Dutch class to find an empty apartment. Christophe returned soon with a mischievous grin and a backpack full of secret Thanksgiving supplies. If you, too, enjoy reading blogs in order to find new ideas, inspiration for projects, books, recipes or just to entertain yourself during your free time, you might enjoy this wonderful site to help find new blogs and manage your favorites all in one place. Up until a couple of days ago I was just creating a file of bookmarks on my bookmarks toolbar with links to all of the blogs that I enjoy keeping up with. The excitement of baking abroad.

This Fall marks the beginning of the second holiday season that I’ll be spending outside of the States. My favorite time of year has always been Fall and I’m enjoying it here in Belgium, too. I love when the leaves begin to fall and scent the morning air with their distinct and crisp smell. I like wearing cozy clothes, putting my ever-growing scarf collection to its rightful use, enjoying multiple cups of hot coffee and tea and smelling the toasty scent of cinnamon. Every morning when I ride my bike to my Dutch class, I find myself thinking that this really is a beautiful place to be living. I ride along the bike path next to the water and some mornings the fog hangs over the water. I feel quite content bundled up in my Fall scarf and hat, pedaling away through the multi-colored leaves and enjoying the view.
