As much as I complain about the rainy, chilly days here, it only takes a few days of sunshine for Belgium to redeem itself. When the sun is shining and you have nothing more important to do than admire all of the green plants and vibrant flowers that the previous months’ rainy days have helped to flourish
, then that makes for quite a pleasant afternoon. I’ve spent the last week venturing out on my bike periodically without a raincloud in sight, and each time I go into the city, I’m still struck with the realization that this is a really beautiful place.
It’s hard to fathom that I’ve been living in Belgium for a year now, but it’s true. The year has gone unbelievably quickly and yet so many important things have happened in its course. Before we moved to Belgium, I envisioned myself writing many more blog entries to help create concrete memories of all the experiences. As I discovered, life takes up way more time. I feel that this one year mark in Belgium is a sort of milestone and it’s nice to look back and see all of the accomplishments that comprise the last year.Read More
